Most commonly found in children and young adults, osteochondromas are benign bone tumors that form beneath the toenail. Although generally not painful, some can cause irritation to the surrounding tissues.

In some cases, the growth may lead to deformity in the toenail and/or cause ingrown nails.

Surgery can remove the osteochondroma, however, they tend to recur.
